I knew the stadium was empty last night while watching the game on ESPN2 HD from the comfort of my own living room but I just didn't realize how empty it was until Denny O'Brien (@TheDOB on Twitter) tweeted that they announced over the P.A. that 4,117 people were in attendance for the game. I thought I had read his update wrong or maybe he had accidentally left out a digit. Nope.

ECU has given the go ahead for a 7,000 east endzone expansion beginning this upcoming December. The Dowdy-Ficklen stadium expansion has been much talked about and much anticipated over the past year. Student Pirate Club members and the ECU Marching Pirates would be moved from their current location to the 7,000 seat expansion. This would open up 3,500-4,000 seats between the 35 yard lines for Pirate Club members.

If you have ever read Boneyard Banter, there is a pretty good chance you know who Whitey is. He could just be another username on Boneyard that you see replying in a funny way to a topic or coming up with a clever nickname for something about the Pirates. However, Whitey’s presence on Boneyard could mean a lot more than that if you are one of the people that has been fortunate enough to be touched by his kindness and sincerity.
