You MUST watch this video. It is an excellent grassroots tribute to Chris Johnson's days at ECU. The Titans are lucky to have this ECU running back who holds the record for the fastest electronic time ever at the NFL combine, 4.24 seconds. He is a beast. Thanks to Andy Hutchins from The Arena Blog for pointing it out to me. The video pays a fine tribute to the time that CJ spent playing for the Pirates.

In the new era of connectivity via PC's, Cell Phones, PDA's, and anything else with an internet connection, the ECU Pirates are keeping us all well informed. Through sites such as Facebook, Myspace and Twitter we have been able to find out news about Pirate baseball, basketball, football and the ECU Pirate Club before it ever makes it up on their official ECU site.

It was brought to my attention today that Yahoo! Sport's rivals.com listed the Pirates as No. 36 on their Preseason 120 list. Not too far off from the top 25, eh? Coupled with the recent Student Pirate Club numbers of 4,500 members thus far, I believe we may get the green light for the Dowdy Ficklen stadium end zone expansion.

Earlier this week, East Carolina University's athletic department released the kick-off times for all of the 2009 home games. With all but one started before 3:30pm, it looks like the tailgater's season will be bright and early in the morning. One plus is that fans of opposing schools either have to stay overnight in Greenville (a big boost for the local economy) or drive a long way early Saturday morning.

It didn't take long for a player with ECU ties to get scooped up in the MLB draft on Tuesday, June 9. With the 25th pick, the Anaheim Angels drafted ECU commit, Mike Trout. ECU had high hopes for the outfielder from Millville Senior High School in New Jersey but we will be able to follow him and other ECU related ballplayers in minor and major league ball parks throughout the country.
