As many of you have heard, there has been much talk about a Pirate Out (everyone dress up like a pirate) and a Black Out (everyone wear black) for the Virginia Tech game on Nov. 5. I have many questions and concerns about this.

I posted something on Twitter earlier today to see if anyone would like to submit a picture of their ECU-themed Jack-O-Lantern to the site. We got two great submissions from Richard DeVita and Karen Watterson showing their Pirate pride with their ECU-themed Jack-O-Lanterns. If you didn't have a chance to send pictures of your Pirate Jack-O-Lantern today, send it to me at 200YearsTooLate@gmail.com and I will get it posted as soon as I can.

As I passed by the corner of Greenville and Charles Blvd. I noticed something a little different. I began to slow my vehicle and was amazed at the number of trees that lay flat on the ground. Beginning Wednesday, October 21, T.A. Loving Company in collaboration with ER Lewis, began the removal of trees and other shrubbery from the site of what is soon to be a new 1,000 seat softball stadium that will includes 250 chair back seats, a press box, toilets, and other support elements.

I am sure I don't stand alone when I say I am a little frustrated with the Pirates performance over the past six games. But as great leaders always do, Terry Holland has taken a stance and made it well known that Pirate Nation must stand together and remain confident and supportive of our team. Below is a message from him sent out today regarding Pirate expectations and maintaining unity and resolve.

ECU has given the go ahead for a 7,000 east endzone expansion beginning this upcoming December. The Dowdy-Ficklen stadium expansion has been much talked about and much anticipated over the past year. Student Pirate Club members and the ECU Marching Pirates would be moved from their current location to the 7,000 seat expansion. This would open up 3,500-4,000 seats between the 35 yard lines for Pirate Club members.

The Pirates have a new badass 18-wheeler to haul the football gear around the country for away games. Thanks to Old Dominion Freight Lines and ISP Sports for sponsoring the truck. I also had a little fun with Jerry Reed's 'East Bound & Down' lyrics by making them a little more Pirate friendly. Check out the new lyrics and a gallery of pictures of the new equipment truck.

Get ready for the Pirate Club's "A Night in G-Vegas" event that will serve as a fundraiser for the 2009 scholarship fund. I can't think of a better way to bring in a lot of money for the 2009 scholarship fund and also give the Pirate fans an opportunity to meet and greet and gamble (fake money of course). Dinner and drinks will be included and you will have the chance to win a bunch of great prizes like beach vacations and off-shore fishing trips. Read the post to find out more about the prizes, the food, the celebrity dealers and much, much more.

You MUST watch this video. It is an excellent grassroots tribute to Chris Johnson's days at ECU. The Titans are lucky to have this ECU running back who holds the record for the fastest electronic time ever at the NFL combine, 4.24 seconds. He is a beast. Thanks to Andy Hutchins from The Arena Blog for pointing it out to me. The video pays a fine tribute to the time that CJ spent playing for the Pirates.
