The ECU men's basketball team is set to take on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons at 2:00pm on Sunday, November 15 inside Greensboro Coliseum. This will be a home game for our Pirates and we need to bring as many fans as possible. In order to help paint Greensboro purple on Sunday, we are giving away free tickets to the game. We have 20 tickets that we want to give to members of the Pirate Nation. The first 20 people to comment or e-mail us will secure them and we will meet you outside of Greensboro Coliseum before the game to get them to you.

Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium is going to be electric tonight. Not only are the stands going to be stuffed to the brim but we will be looking down onto a new logo on Bagwell Field. If you do not walk into Dowdy-Ficklen tonight around 7:00 p.m. and feel all of the energy inside of you, there must be something wrong with you.

Early last week, the editor over at GobblerCountry.com, furrer4heisman, sent me direct message on Twitter to see if we would be interested in doing an interview exchange between our two blogs. They have a great preview up for the ECU/Virginia Tech game on their site so go check it out. I just tossed together a five random questions that I thought people might want to know about the upcoming game on Thursday and the Virginia Tech football team.

I can't think of a much better feeling then getting off of work a little early and heading out to the parking lots and tailgate fields around Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium to get ready for a Thursday night game on ESPN against the Virginia Tech Hokies. The buzz around Greenville must be incredible as everyone prepares for the big night. Check out the post for some information about parking restriction for tailgating on Thursday and an awesome recipe called "The Smokin' Hokie"...

As many of you have heard, there has been much talk about a Pirate Out (everyone dress up like a pirate) and a Black Out (everyone wear black) for the Virginia Tech game on Nov. 5. I have many questions and concerns about this.

I posted something on Twitter earlier today to see if anyone would like to submit a picture of their ECU-themed Jack-O-Lantern to the site. We got two great submissions from Richard DeVita and Karen Watterson showing their Pirate pride with their ECU-themed Jack-O-Lanterns. If you didn't have a chance to send pictures of your Pirate Jack-O-Lantern today, send it to me at 200YearsTooLate@gmail.com and I will get it posted as soon as I can.

I knew the stadium was empty last night while watching the game on ESPN2 HD from the comfort of my own living room but I just didn't realize how empty it was until Denny O'Brien (@TheDOB on Twitter) tweeted that they announced over the P.A. that 4,117 people were in attendance for the game. I thought I had read his update wrong or maybe he had accidentally left out a digit. Nope.

As I passed by the corner of Greenville and Charles Blvd. I noticed something a little different. I began to slow my vehicle and was amazed at the number of trees that lay flat on the ground. Beginning Wednesday, October 21, T.A. Loving Company in collaboration with ER Lewis, began the removal of trees and other shrubbery from the site of what is soon to be a new 1,000 seat softball stadium that will includes 250 chair back seats, a press box, toilets, and other support elements.

I am sure I don't stand alone when I say I am a little frustrated with the Pirates performance over the past six games. But as great leaders always do, Terry Holland has taken a stance and made it well known that Pirate Nation must stand together and remain confident and supportive of our team. Below is a message from him sent out today regarding Pirate expectations and maintaining unity and resolve.

There really is no better time to head to Greenville for a football game than Homecoming (unless we land home field for the Conference USA championship). I can't wait. I have spoken to a lot of my friends that are setting up big plans for the game. We are all getting prepared to stir-fry Rice.
