Early last week, the editor over at GobblerCountry.com, furrer4heisman, sent me direct message on Twitter to see if we would be interested in doing an interview exchange between our two blogs. They have a great preview up for the ECU/Virginia Tech game on their site so go check it out. I just tossed together a five random questions that I thought people might want to know about the upcoming game on Thursday and the Virginia Tech football team.

Here is a link to the Q&A exchange that Gobbler Country posted with my answers to five of their questions about the game and the Pirates.

Gobbler Country is part of SBNation.com which houses a ton of sports blog. They do not have an ECU blog up there so all of the news about ECU is coming from opponents or blogs from other schools. We would love to be a part of SBNation but they require you to sell your URL to them and I don’t know if that is something that we are interested in doing.

Check out the five question Q&A below.

Last year’s game at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte was considered a home game for ECU. How do you feel about VT coming to Greenville for an actual home game?

I wish I could be there because I’m sure the atmosphere will be electric. I’m glad the Hokies are finally making a return trip to Greenville. I have a lot of respect for ECU and its fans and I think the series between the two teams has been a lot of fun. I have a relative who went to ECU and he hasn’t stopped giving me shit since last year’s game. Hopefully he’ll be forced to shut up for the next 12 months.

I just heard that Virginia Tech will be rocking the all-white throwbacks on Thursday night. How does Virginia Tech play when they aren’t wearing the ol’ Maroon & Orange? According to Virginia Tech football’s Wikipedia page, there are only two white helmets. Which one do you think Beamer is going to bust out?

Last year we played really well in the white throwbacks. We were 4-1 in them in 2008, including wins in the ACCCG and Orange Bowl. This year we wore them during our win against Marshall. I really like the look of both the white and maroon throwbacks and hope the rumors are true that those will be our full-time uniforms starting next season. As far as the white helmet, I haven’t heard anything. We wore white throwback helmets (the one with the outline of the Commonwealth) last year against Furman, but those were auctioned off for charity.

I imagine that Virginia Tech’s special teams have a bone to pick with the Pirates after last year’s blocked punt. Should we be on the look out for Beamer to toss out some crazy business on 4th downs and kick-offs?

I haven’t seen us run a fake on a field goal or punt in a long time. But I imagine Dyrell Roberts will be looking to return the one kickoff you guys will have on Thursday back for a touchdown. He leads the nation in kick return average. And of course, we’ll be coming after punts.

What three Virginia Tech players should we look out for on Thursday and in the NFL in a year or two?

The best NFL prospects right now are DE Jason Worilds, RB Ryan Williams and G Sergio Render. Worilds is a junior, but I have a feeling you’ll see him on Sundays next season. He’s a tremendous pass rusher. Williams. I mean, what can you say about the freshman season he’s having. He’s met all the expectations Hokie fans have had for him. The fumble against UNC was a big gaffe, but I think he’ll bounce back well from it. Render is a good pulling guard who should play in the NFL.

Which defensive player lays the biggest hits out there?

It’s gotta be FS Kam Chancellor. However, he hasn’t been administering nearly as many big hits as he did when he played rover. He still has the ability to KTFO somebody, though.

After losing to Chapel Hill last week, do you think the Hokies will be bringing the pain to Greenville?

They better. If we come out and lay another egg like the one we did against North Carolina I’ll be one unhappy Hokie.
