I knew the stadium was empty last night while watching the game on ESPN2 HD from the comfort of my own living room but I just didn't realize how empty it was until Denny O'Brien (@TheDOB on Twitter) tweeted that they announced over the P.A. that 4,117 people were in attendance for the game. I thought I had read his update wrong or maybe he had accidentally left out a digit. Nope.

As I passed by the corner of Greenville and Charles Blvd. I noticed something a little different. I began to slow my vehicle and was amazed at the number of trees that lay flat on the ground. Beginning Wednesday, October 21, T.A. Loving Company in collaboration with ER Lewis, began the removal of trees and other shrubbery from the site of what is soon to be a new 1,000 seat softball stadium that will includes 250 chair back seats, a press box, toilets, and other support elements.

There really is no better time to head to Greenville for a football game than Homecoming (unless we land home field for the Conference USA championship). I can't wait. I have spoken to a lot of my friends that are setting up big plans for the game. We are all getting prepared to stir-fry Rice.

One hundred years ago today East Carolina Teachers College held its first class. The date was October 5, 1909 and 123 students (104 women and 19 men) stepped through those doors at what would later become East Carolina University.
