Shuffle up and deal, Pirates! It is time to join the Pirate Club and your fellow Pirates for a night of games that will include blackjack, poker, craps, roulette, slot machines and more. You will have the chance to win tons of incredible prizes including an off-shore fishing trip, a 2 week beach vacation, dinners with the ECU coaching staff, Tailgate packages (including Va. Tech tickets), a bar shaped like a boat and much, much more. Even better than the prizes is the fact that this event will be part of the 2009 scholarship fundraiser. So, if when you lose everything at the tables, know that your bad luck is turning into good luck for a future Pirate!

The “A Night in G-Vegas” event will be held on September 4th (or more commonly known around the 200YTL office as the night before we play the mountain folk in football) at Minges Coliseum. Tickets are $50.00 in advance and $70.00 at the door so make sure you go ahead and sign up early to save some bills. The “casino doors” open at 6:00PM and the games will begin at 7:00PM and last until 10:00PM.  After 10:00PM, everyone will tally their Pirate chips (which I have heard are going to look incredibly bad ass) and see who is going to be taking their fellow Pirates out on a weekend fishing expedition. If you win, please save me a spot on the boat.

Did I mention that they will be serving “food & your choice of Pirate beverages”? I have heard that the food will be provided by The Beef Barn, CPW’s, Christine’s Fine Dining and Wimpies (which all alone will be worth the price of admission). I am not sure what Pirate beverages are but I bet they are strong and tasty and I am looking forward to having my fair share of ’em.

For those younger Pirate alums out there…you definitely need to turn “A Night in G-Vegas” into the place where all of your friends will meet on Friday instead of going to some random watering hole that you used to frequent in college (Editor’s Note: That watering hole will probably not be like you remember it…) I am already rallying my friends together and trying to get as many people to meet at Minges that Friday because it will be a blast and you probably won’t wake up feeling as bad for that 12:00PM kick-off.

5135_125381546616_781416616_2810790_5319584_n“A Night in G-Vegas” is going to bring in quite a few celebrity dealers including Jeff Charles (“the Voice of the Pirates”), Mack McCarthy (the ECU men’s head basketball coach), Jennifer Holtz (the wife of Skip Holtz) and Monica Palumbo (ECU alum, current Miss Sprint Cup — seen interviewing Kid Rock to the right— and one of our favorites at 200YTL). I have heard rumors that there will be some other celebrity dealers but we won’t spread anything until it is confirmed.

Tickets can be purchased in advance from the Pirate Club by calling (252) 737-4840 or you can visit their Web site: http://www.ecupirateclub.com. The deadline for advanced purchasing is August 31, 2009 so make sure you don’t procrastinate too long and snag your $50 ticket while you can. Also, according to the Pirate Club tweets, Executive Director of the Pirate Club, Mark Wharton and fellow staff member, Adam Keen, will be on “Talk of the Town” with Henry Hinton and on 94.3 WTIB on Tuesday, August 4th at 8:30. You should definitely tune it to find out more details regarding “A Night in G-Vegas.”

I will try to keep you updated with any information that I can about this event and I hope to see you out there on September 4th to support the team.

GO PIRATES!!!

You better! Should be a great time. Just heard they will be auctioning of a life size Pee-Dee cutout that’s autographed by many of the coaches. I know I’ll be there.
