Thanks to SwissPirate over at Boneyard Banter for passing along the info that he heard about David Garrard, a former standout quarterback for the East Carolina Pirates, throwing the first pitch at the Carolina Mudcats‘ game at 7:15 pm on July 27th against the Chattanooga Lookouts.
Garrard will be at the stadium early to sign autographs for fans before the game followed by the pre-game first pitch. This will be the perfect opportunity for Pirate fans to get Pirate gear signed by Garrard and an unbelievable opportunity for a chance to meet one of the greatest Pirate athletes of all-time. Garrard will be representing The David Garrard Foundation which supports the research and awareness of Crohn’s disease and Colitis. The foundation encourages youth to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle.
The Mudcats are the Double-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds and their stadium is located in Zebulon, NC (between Greenville and Raleigh off of US 264). See the map below for directions from wherever you may live.
The game starts at 7:15 pm and I hope, just like SwissPirate said, that we will be able to paint the Mudcats’ Five County Stadium purple and show Garrard tons of support from the East Carolina fan base even though it is a Monday night. Since its summertime, it is the perfect time to take your family or friends out to the ballpark and be a part of America’s past time.
