Since our baseball season is over after the two massive ass beatings that were handed to us by UNC Chapel Hill a few weeks ago, I told myself that it was time to move on to football. I decided to start browsing the Interwebs in search of some good material about the Pirates.
I went to the usual places like Boneyard Banter, Pirate Illustrated and tried to check out some great ECU tailgating pictures from Packman’s Southern Fried Football (which is currently being redesigned for the upcoming season and won’t go live again until August). I found some good stuff but my favorite thing that I found today was a post on AppFan.com about the early kick-off for the ECU/App St. game.
The post itself wasn’t really that much to look at…maybe 50 words which were quoting ECU’s official site about the kick-off time for the game but the comment section is what caught my attention.
Editor’s Note: If you are an ECU fan, AppFan.com should be bookmarked into your favorites because it will definitely be a great place to go before September 5th to get a different perspective on the upcoming game. The authors and readers may talk a lot of junk but they know their Mountaineers and will be able to give us an inside look at what we should expect.
As I am writing this, there are 50+ comments below the post on AppFan.com discussing things from painting Greenville black & gold to leaving town after they win because they are scared of getting beat up by ECU fans. Both of these things are comical in my mind. They even go into discussing the pros and cons of Raleigh (the place that they were going to go after their predicted W) but I love the fact that they are talking about beginning the tailgate at 6am. I will be out there real early with a glass of Firefly Vodka and some good ol’ Natural Lights. There is nothing like tailgating in Greenville.
The majority are anti-ECU comments talking about how “it’s always been tradition at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium for ECU fans to throw their empty liquor bottles at fans of the visiting team” and they even compared SAT scores in one of the comments. I haven’t looked into the SAT scores but I know that the “tradition” of throwing liquor bottles is complete horseshit but I do love some good smack talk everyonce in a while.
I am glad that I found this site and am looking forward to checking it out regularly for a bunch of news about the Mountaineers and even listening to some of these mountain boys talk smack about the Pirates because that only gets me more excited to beat them.
