Yesterday, the plan to expand Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium was approved and this rendering of the east end zone seating was released. I apologize for how small the above image is but I had to squeeze it into the post. Click here or on the image above for a larger version. Corley Redfoot Zack, Inc. is the designer and they have done a variety of projects for the university including the Student Recreation Center and the Minges Coliseum renovation.
See below for some specs that I found from bluewaterpirate over on Boneyard Banter:

Anticipated Completion: July 2010
I can’t wait for this project to be finished. Adding 7,000 seats to Dowdy-Ficklen is just the start of it. This rendering goes into some great detail. I am huge fan of the sabres that will be located at each support column. The triple window that contains ECU looks awesome and even the little people walking into the stadium have me getting way too excited for football season. I would guess that this expansion would add about 5-10 more vendors in the stadium which will make us more money.
According to e.c.t.c. over on Boneyard, the expansion will not be attached to the current stadium because it would require the rest of Dowdy-Ficklen to be brought up to code to match current standards. Over time, I believe that this issue will be addressed and the rest of the stadium will be filled in.
