The First Annual “Old Spice Chris Johnson Football Camp”

During the summer, kids are out of school and have plenty of free time on their hands. All of this free time can lead to time-consuming activities that are not always productive to society. In an effort to curb some of these non-productive activities, the NFL and its teams have set up youth programs and camps during the summer where kids have the chance to spend part of their summer (1-3 days) with professional athletes while learning the fundamental skills that helped the professional athletes get to the NFL.

Pirate Club and Student Pirate Club numbers looking good in ’09.

Looks as though the ECU Pirate Club numbers are up as compared to last year. According to my recent memory, these numbers are around $400,000 greater than last year at this time. Coupled with the recent Student Pirate Club numbers of 4,500 members thus far, I believe we may get the green light for the Dowdy Ficklen stadium end zone expansion.

The early kick-off from a different perspective

I found this site called AppFan.com and went through the comment section of a post about the 'Battle of the Beards' on September 5th. They went from comparing SAT scores between ECU and App St. to discussing the pros and cons of Raleigh and why they were driving there because they didn't want to stay in Greenville that Saturday night.

ECU announces kick-off times for the 2009 home football schedule

Earlier this week, East Carolina University's athletic department released the kick-off times for all of the 2009 home games. With all but one started before 3:30pm, it looks like the tailgater's season will be bright and early in the morning. One plus is that fans of opposing schools either have to stay overnight in Greenville (a big boost for the local economy) or drive a long way early Saturday morning.
